Licensed Microwave

High speed, LAN-to-LAN connectivity with 5-9s availability.

Licensed Microwave has been the connectivity choice for many Telecom carriers, corporate organizations and Government authorities for a number of years. Licensed Microwave offers high speeds, high availability and virtually limitless connection distances, it can be relied upon to carry voice and data traffic in a number of bandwidth-intensive applications, such as:

  • 2G/3G Cellular Networks Infrastructure
  • Private data Networks (WANs, LANs, etc.)
  • Utility Networks (Railways, Pipelines, etc.)
  • Last Mile access for Corporate, SMEs and Local Government
  • Backhaul links

Licensed Microwave links are absolutely transparent, acting as an extension of the Ethernet backbone or segment. Licensed Microwave is fully compatible with the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard, and supports all Ethernet functionality and applications.

Licensed Microwave systems require a clear line-of-site between locations. This implies that there can be no obstacles or obstructions in the path of the microwave signal. To achieve this microwave antennas are located as high as possible, generally on roofs of buildings, radio towers, or other tall structures. In the event that a clear line-of-site cannot be established, systems are sometimes repeated over objects (i.e. other buildings) or reflected around an object using specific microwave passive repeaters. In most cases it is necessary to perform a site survey in order to assure a clear line-of-site.

Advantages of Licensed Microwave:

  • More cost effective than LES circuits
  • Guaranteed availability because the licensee owns the RF band
  • Full duplex speeds, up to 1Gbps
  • Links can be any distance using existing telecom masts
