Wireless Desktop Survey

With the help of our path profiler tools and mapping software, AIT Partnership are able to run a desktop profile to ascertain whether a point-to-point link is achievable. Using building heights, postcodes and grid references, we can map the proposed link to understand if any landscape, trees or major buildings are likely to cause link loss if a point-to-point link is implemented.

Example path profile for point-to-Point RF link

  • Landscape is indicated by the brown line.
  • Blue indicates the fresnel zone - the area of radio coverage.
  • The grey line shows the perfect line-of-sight-path.
  • The red line shows the achievable link path.

In this example a link would not be possible as the terrain will obstruct the path of the link, however by placing a relay point on the obstructing terrain a link could be achieved.
